In this podcast episode of Jungle Warriors, we share 3 different topics with our listeners and readers:
(1) We deliver to you the poem that honors and respects those men who have earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge in any of the campaigns from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, etc. This poem is called The Badge of Glory.
Of all the Medals Upon our Chest
From the Battles and War we knew,
The one admired as THE VERY BEST
Is the one of Infantry Blue.
It is only a rifle upon a wreath,
So why should it mean so much?
It is WHAT IT TOOK TO EARN IT
That gives it that Magic Touch.
To earn this special accolade
You faced the enemy's fire
Whether you survived or not
God dialed that one desired.
For those of us who served the cause
It is the
COMBAT INFANTRYMAN'S BADGE…
THAT REALLY TELLS THE STORY

It can also be found at the home page web location of the Combat Infantrymen's Association, Austin, Texas Chapter.
(2) The second part of this podcast explains how a great deal of the proceeds from the sale of the book, The Jungle Warriors- A True Story, will be used to give back to the community, especially assisting the disadvantaged veterans and their families with such programs as the following:
- Greeting the returning CIB troops from the Middle East, thanking them and welcoming them home;
- Providing outreach and communication support (and moral support) to those recently returned CIB (Combat Infantryman's Badge) veterans;
- Providing community services oriented towards the children of the CIB veterans in parent-assisted activities and events sponsored by the CIB Association, Austin, Texas Chapter.
- Providing free copies of the book to the returning CIB veterans for them and for their families, as it has been proven with the feedback and comments of gratitude we have received (especially from the spouses of the CIB veterans) that the book provided some positive closure and a type of "therapy" for them.
As you will hear, the author, Bobby Briscoe, has never intended this book to be any money-maker–but rather, it was a promise that he kept to himself and in honor of the men of his unit in the Americal Division during his experiences of the Vietnam War.
(3) The introduction of the song, Monsoon Rain, as performed by group called Funky Face (managed by Felton Armstrong). The intro and outro music for this episode come from that song–whose lyrics, by the way, were also written by Bobby Briscoe. We note that we will use this song as the podcast music for future episodes.
For those individuals who wish to donate to the cause, there is a final reminder that they may contribute either to the Combat Infantrymen's Association, Austin, Texas Chapter (a non-profit organization that is recognized by the IRS) or they can help by purchasing the book in either paperback version or audio version. More details will be found on this site, as well as links from the CIB Association, Austin, Texas, chapter.
